LUBBOCK, Texas - As game day approaches, Texas Tech is getting close to putting the finishing touches on the game plan for the Saturday matchup with New Mexico. The Red Raiders practiced Wednesday afternoon on the grass practice fields east of the Athletic Training Center.
"We were really good today on both sides of the ball," Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach said, following the 2 ? hour practice. "We worked on our game plan for the duration."
The Red Raiders have suffered their share of nicks and scrapes throughout the preseason, but Leach notes that the team is continuing to "work through the bumps and bruises and they're getting better everyday."
The Red Raiders have two more practices scheduled before kicking off the 2000 season. Tech will hold a practice session tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. on the artificial turf in Jones SBC Stadium and close out game week practice with a 3 p.m. workout Friday on the grass. Texas Tech practices are open to the public.
Texas Tech opens the season in the Transamerica Hispanic College Fund Classic on Sat., Aug. 26 against New Mexico. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Jones SBC Stadium. As of Wednesday afternoon, ticket sales for Saturday's game are an estimated 36,500.
