LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech continued game week preparations Tuesday afternoon with a 2 ? hour practice on the grass practice fields east of the Athletic Training Center.
"We were good on both sides of the ball today," Red Raider head coach Mike Leach said. "We were pretty sharp. We need another good one tomorrow and we'll be in good shape."
The Red Raiders spent the afternoon working on offensive and defensive drills and putting in time against New Mexico play schemes.
Leach called out quarterback Kliff Kingsbury, running back Ricky Williams and the offensive line as standing out in Tuesday's practice. "The offensive line is getting better and picking up twists and blitzes," Leach added.
The Red Raiders practice Wed., Aug. 23, at 3 p.m. on the grass fields. Texas Tech practices are open to the public.
Texas Tech opens the season in the Transamerica Hispanic College Fund Classic on Sat., Aug. 26 against New Mexico. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Jones SBC Stadium. As of Tuesday afternoon, ticket sales for Saturday's game are an estimated 35,000.
