Red Raiders Well-Represented on Big 12 All-Academic Team

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced today that 26 Red Raiders have been named to the Football All-Academic Team. The total trails only Nebraska, which placed 28 on the team.
Texas Tech had 16 players make the first team, while Tech is represented with 10 on the second team. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade point average, while the second team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA.
Among the 152 student-athletes named to the team, five carried a perfect 4.0 GPA, including Texas Tech specials team player Lennard Christensen.
Representing Texas Tech on the first team are Peter Abrigg (Abilene, Texas), Ryan Aycock (Lubbock, Texas), Chris Birkholz (Temple, Texas), Tony Cantu (Benavides, Texas), Lennard Christensen (Amarillo, Texas), John DePasquale (Houston, Texas), Carlos Francis (Fort Worth, Texas), Jonathan Hawkins (Wichita Falls, Texas) Sam Hooks (Cameron, Texas), J.P. Jansen (Buda, Texas), Kliff Kingsbury (New Braunfels, Texas), Paul McClendon (Stamford, Texas), Robert Monroe (Corpus Christi, Texas), Kyle Sanders (Monahans, Texas), King Scovell (Dallas, Texas) and Robert Wyatt (Duncanville, Texas).
Second team members include Rusty Bucy (Katy, Texas), Will Culpepper (Cleburne, Texas), Derek Dorris (Azle, Texas), Kris Kocurek (Caldwell, Texas), Mickey Peters (Weatherford, Texas), Justin Reed (Mexia, Texas), Toby Shain (Seminole, Texas), Reggie Savage (San Angelo, Texas), J.J. Williams (Sulphur Springs, Texas) and Shaud Williams (Andrews, Texas).
