No. 11 Texas Tech finishes runner-up at The Hayt
March 09, 2026 | Men's Golf
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — No. 11 Texas Tech wrapped up play at The Hayt on Monday with a runner-up finish, shooting 26-under across the 54-hole event at Sawgrass Country Club. The Red Raiders finished two strokes behind No. 2 Auburn, which claimed the team title at 28-under.
Monday's result marks back-to-back runner-up finishes for Texas Tech after placing second at The Prestige in its previous event.
The Red Raiders finished The Hayt on a blistering pace, shooting 25-under across the final two rounds — the best mark in the 16-team field that included eight top-25 programs. Texas Tech shot 12-under 276 in Monday's final round after firing a second-round-best 13-under 275 on Sunday. The Red Raiders opened the event with a 1-under 287 in the first round.
Texas Tech nearly stormed back to claim its first win of the season, finishing its round and waiting in the clubhouse at 26-under while several teams remained on the course. Auburn held a one-stroke advantage as its players approached the 18th hole. Auburn's first three players with counting scores carded pars on the closing hole before Jackson Koivun, the world's No. 1-ranked amateur, secured the team title for the Tigers with a birdie that also gave him the individual victory at 11-under 205.
Texas Tech's trio of Connor Graham, Tim Wiedemeyer, and Adam Bresnu — who were each named to the Haskins Award Spring Watch List earlier in the day — all finished inside the top 15. Graham led the Red Raiders with a tie for fourth at 9-under 207 after rounds of 68-69-70. He stood at 11-under through 53 holes and held the individual lead before a double bogey on the final hole dropped him back into a tie for fourth. He was the only Red Raider to shoot under par in all three rounds.
Wiedemeyer finished tied for sixth at 8-under 208 after carding the Red Raiders' low round Monday with a 4-under 68. It marked his third top-10 finish of the season in six events.
Bresnu tied for 13th at 6-under 210, extending his streak to seven top-20 finishes in seven events this season.
Freshman Brady McHenry recorded his best round of the tournament Monday with a 3-under 69 to finish even par for the event. It was his fourth round in the 60s this season.
Texas Tech returns to action March 16-18 at the Pauma Valley Invitational at Pauma Valley Country Club in Pauma Valley, California.
