Newcomer Q&A with Tyeree Bryan
June 26, 2025 | Men's Basketball
LUBBOCK – The first Texas Tech basketball signee this offseason, Tyeree Bryan officially joined the Red Raiders on April 9 after playing the last two seasons at Santa Clara, one at Charleston Southern and his freshman year at Indian River State College. A 6-foot-5 guard from Orlando, Florida, Bryan has scored 900 points and made 144 3-pointers (41.6 percent) in 93 career games at the NCAA level. Following a workout during the fourth week of summer workouts, we sat down with him for a quick conversation inside the Womble Practice Facility to get to know him a little more.
What do you bring to the team on and off the court?
"Being a leader. I'm someone who is competitive every day with the goal in mind to get better. Work hard every day."
What do you want to get most out of summer workouts?
"I want to work on my body. Get stronger along with my flexibility and mobility."
Favorite food or restaurant?
"Pasta. My favorite restaurant is LongHorn Steakhouse."
What do you want to develop the most in your game?
"Shooting off the dribble and making the right reads. We have great centers and guards on this team and I want to make the read to get them the ball when shots aren't there. Always involving my teammates and being ready to take shots and knock them down."
What do you want your teammates and coaches to say about you?
"That I give it all I have. That I'm competitive and a leader. Never takes a day off."
Top three musicians and a concert you'd want to go to?
"NBA YoungBoy. BossMan Dlow. Zed."
How do you impact winning?
"I'm always willing to do the little things to help teams win. I'm not one to care about how many points I score or if I'm taking a lot of shots. I always keep my team in mind and do anything they need to help us win the game."
What do you think makes you unique as a person?
"I treat everyone with kindness. That's big with me. I'm not the most talkative person, but when I connect with people I try to make their day better and give them all I can. Make a great impression and let people know I care about them."
Favorite movie?
"John Wick."
Who is the first person you'd call for advice or to share something good?
"My mom. Seeing her get up and work hard every day to help me to get to where I'm at now is inspiring. She's made sacrifices for me throughout my life. I never had to worry about anything because I know she will always be there for me."
What standard have you set for yourself in your work ethic?
"Get better with every rep. No reps off. Even if I'm tired, I'm always thinking about games and fighting through. You have to do everything you can to the best of your ability."
Who's a player you see shades of yourself in?
"I try to model my game after some players, but not really anyone specifically. Just want to be the best version of myself."
What is something off the basketball court that people don't know about you?
"I'm really good at playing Madden."
What do you want to embrace the most about playing at Texas Tech?
"Everything. It's an honor to play here at Tech and wear this jersey. Carry myself and this program with pride every day."
