LUBBOCK – Following a workout during the third week of summer, we sat down with Donovan Atwell for a quick conversation inside the Womble Practice Facility. Atwell was the third signee from the transfer portal this offseason, officially joining the Red Raiders on April 16 after playing his first three seasons at UNC Greensboro. He'll go into his senior season having already played in 95 games, posting 907 points, 215 made 3-pointers (39.4 percent), 225 rebounds, 56 assists and 53 steals during his career.

What do you bring to the team on and off the court?
"Consistency. That's a big thing for me in life. I always want to be consistent in everything that I do. Bringing a lot of effort every day and pushing my teammates to get to where we want to get to."
What do you want to get most out of summer workouts?
"The main thing I'm working on right now is putting on more weight and getting stronger. I also want to work on my handle to be a better ball handler and diversify my shot selections."
Favorite food or restaurant?
"I'm a big Wing Stop guy. Love the lemon pepper, boneless wings. Those are my go-to."
What do you want to develop the most in your game?
"My three-level scoring. I'm known for being a 3-point shooter but I want to be able to consistently knock down shots from other spots when needed. Getting to the cup more."
What do you want your teammates and coaches to say about you?
"That I come ready to work hard every day. That I bring energy every day and am always pushing others to get better."
Top three musicians and a concert you'd want to go to?
"Lil Baby. Brent Faiyaz. Drake."
How do you impact winning?
"Trying to be a leader and positive all the time. Not just going out there trying to score. When shots aren't falling, I stay consistent and work to be a vocal leader to help the team win."
What do you think makes you unique as a person?
"My consistency and work ethic is something I take a lot of pride in. I feel like whatever the situation is, I'm always going to give 100 percent."
Favorite movie or television show?
"'You'. That's a great show."
Who is the first person you'd call for advice or to share something good?
"My parents, for sure. My dad is a basketball fanatic. He always cares a lot about how my workouts and days are going. He'll watch all my games over and over to give me advice and encouragement. It's important to me to have his support. He's a major influence and role model. I try to model my life after him. He was a football guy but always works really hard."
What standard have you set for yourself in your work ethic?
"Always empty the tank. Play like it's your last day. Consistently loving the game."
Who's a player you see shades of yourself in?
"Not an exact player, but I'm a fan of the game and try to learn different parts of the game from others. Curry, Ray Allen, Haliburton. How they move off the ball and on the court."
What is something off the basketball court that people don't know about you?
"I love to play ping pong. I'm a great ping pong player. I have a table at the house and would play my sister all day."
What do you want to embrace the most about playing at Texas Tech?
"The winning atmosphere and culture of this place. It's really special. They've consistently won and got to March Madness. That's what I want to experience and help continue here. Winning culture."
