June 16, 2025 | Men's Tennis
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's tennis team has signed Grant Lothringer as announced on Monday morning by head coach Michael Breler.
Â
?"We're really excited to have Grant join us as a Red Raider this spring," Breler said. "He was a top junior in Texas and in the nation coming out of high school and has gained a wealth of experience these last few years at the highest level of college tennis. He possesses the work ethic, toughness and character that we look for and will fit right in with our culture. We expect Grant to make a big impact in both our singles and doubles lineup, and also as a leader when he arrives in January."
Â
Lothringer is a graduate transfer from Texas A&M and has three years of eligibility left. During his redshirt freshman season at Texas A&M (2023-24), Lothringer put together an 8-3 record in singles and a 6-2 record in doubles play. In addition, Lothringer went 3-0 on court three and 2-1 on court six in singles. This past fall in tournament play, Lothringer picked up a couple of singles wins and four doubles wins.
Â
In August 2024, Lothringer competed in doubles at the ITA National Summer Championships. He also advanced out of qualifying in October 2024 at the Harlingen 25k. While at that tournament, Lothringer defeated Jacob Ramos Vasquez (ITF 512) and Avery Zavala (ITF 630) to get to the main draw.
Â
The Woodlands, Texas native was a five-star recruit out of high school and totaled 31 singles wins over other Blue Chip, five-star and four-star recruits. Lothringer earned a career high national junior ranking of No. 34 and the No. 3-ranked recruit in the state of Texas in 2022. In 2019, Lothringer competed at the USTA Boys' 16s National Championship in Kalamazoo Mich., where he tallied five singles wins and a doubles victory.
