BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Tech women's track and field team completed day two of the NCAA West First Round Championships Thursday evening at E.B. Cushing Stadium.

Shelby Frank was the first Red Raider to compete Thursday and the only one to solidify her spot at nationals. Frank threw 66.17m (217-1) in the hammer throw to finish third overall as she heads back to nationals for a second-straight year in the event. She will compete in the discus Saturday in which she currently ranks fifth in the country.
Olayinka Olajide secured the 100m/200m double. In the 100m she posted a time of 11.32 finishing 22nd before going 23.25 in the 200m to place 18th.
Notables
·     Destiny Smith (13.18, Q) and Tonie-Ann Forbes (13.19, Q) advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal in the 100m hurdles.
·     Fanny Arendt (2:05.22, Q) advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal in the 800m
·     Amori Pierson finished 14th in the shot put throwing 16.19m (53-11 ½).
·     Olivia Cade finished 24th clearing 4.17m (13-8 ¼).
