Hurtova tabbed Big 12 Golfer of the Month
April 03, 2025 | Women's Golf
IRVING, Texas – Texas Tech's Klara Hurtova was named the Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month, the conference announced on Thursday. It's the sophomore's first career monthly honor and is the first Red Raider woman to be honored as golfer of the month since March 2022.
Hurtova won a pair of tournaments in March while leading the Red Raiders to a team title. The two wins marked the first two of her career, and she owns three Top-5 finishes this season, dating back to her runner-up finish at the Red Raider Invitational in the fall, which was previously her top career finish.
The sophomore captured medalist honors at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, March 15-16, navigating Forest Hills Golf Club with a 5-under 139 (69-70) to win the 36-hole event by three strokes. Next time out, Hurtova followed her first career win with a tie for first place at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate with a 1-over-par 214 (74-70-70), March 24-25. She ultimately outlasted her foe, winning medalist honors outright in a playoff at Pinetree Country Club.
Over three events in the month, she averaged 71.75 strokes and increased her national ranking by 86 spots. Her monthly honor is the first for a Red Raider since Amy Taylor was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for events played in February of 2022 after she recorded a pair of runner-up finishes to lead the Red Raiders throughout the month.
