Hurtova earns selection to NCAA Regional in Lubbock
April 23, 2025 | Women's Golf
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech sophomore Klara Hurtova was selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday, the NCAA announced live on the Golf Channel. Texas Tech's Rawls Course is one of six sites to host regional play in 2025; Hurtova was one of six individuals chosen to participate in the Lubbock Regional, in addition to 12 teams selected to compete at the site.
Wednesday marks the second year in a row the Red Raiders qualified an individual for the postseason, dating back to Lauren Zaretsky being selected for the 2024 Las Vegas Regional. It also marks the second year in a row Texas Tech will not participate in a regional, as a team, after eight consecutive appearances. Despite the team not appearing in the last two seasons, the Red Raiders extended their streak to 15 consecutive years qualifying for the postseason, as a team or with an individual, under head coach JoJo Robertson since her hire in the summer of 2009.
As the three-seed among the individuals in the Lubbock Regional, Hurtova leads the Red Raiders this season with a 73.2 scoring average after 12 events and 35 rounds. She enters her first postseason with six top 20 finishes and two wins during her sophomore campaign. Her first career win was at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, while the second came in her very next event, the Pinetree Collegiate, both of which came during the month of March. Hurtova's season includes 14 rounds at even par or better, and a team-best four rounds carded in the 60s.
Regional play will be held May 5-7 at all six sites. In total, it will feature 396 participants with 12 teams and six individuals at each site. The top five teams (30 in total) and the lowest individual not associated with an advancing team (six in total) from each site will move on to compete in the national championships.
Championship play will be hosted at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., May 16-21. For further information, visit ncaa.com.
