Day two of Big 12 Women's Golf Championship complete
April 16, 2025 | Women's Golf
HOCKLEY, Texas – Texas Tech's second round of the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship was completed on Wednesday afternoon, carding a 19-over-par 303, at The Clubs at Houston Oaks. The Red Raiders sit in 13th on the team leaderboard, among the 14 in the field, at 36-over-par (604) following the first 36 holes as they look ahead to Thursday's final round of play.
Klara Hurtova continues to pace the Red Raiders in the tournament. She shot a team-best 1-over-par 72 in round one on Tuesday and again led the Red Raiders on Wednesday with a 3-over-par 74. The front nine again troubled Hurtova in the second round, similar to the first round, starting with a bogey on the first hole before bouncing back for consecutive birdies on holes four and five. She tallied a second bogey on hole No. 6 and then triple bogeyed No. 9 to finish the front side 3-over-par. However, on the back nine, Hurtova shot even-par for the second-straight day; she ended her second round on a high note with a birdie on No. 18 to finish the second round 3-over-par (74).
At 4-over-par (146) after 36 holes, Hurtova is tied for 18th place. Hurtova entered this week's event as Texas Tech's owner for the top finish among those who returned to the 2025 edition that played in last season's Big 12 Championship. Hurtova tied for 11th a season ago thanks to a final round 2-under-par 69.
Lauren Zaretsky (4-over-par 75), Kylee Loewe (6-over-par 77), and Danique Stokmans (6-over-par 77) accounted for the Red Raiders' three additional countable scores in Wednesday's second round.
Oklahoma State leads the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship at 6-over-par (574). The Cowboys own a two-shot lead over Houston (577) and a three-shot lead over TCU (577), heading into Thursday's final round.
The Red Raiders and Colorado will be paired together for a second straight day for round three on Thursday morning. Both teams will begin the final round on hole No. 10, starting with Stokmans at 8:20 a.m. CDT, while Hurtova will be the last of the five Red Raiders in action to tee off at 9 a.m.
