Dmitrichenko named Big 12 Player of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas – After going 3-0 on the week with two ranked singles wins and helping the Texas Tech Lady Raiders claim the Big 12 regular season title, junior Yekaterina Dmitrichenko earned her second career Big 12 Player of the Week honor.

In Tech's first match of the weekend against No. 33 Arizona State, Dmitrichenko along with teammate Hailey Murphy, won their doubles match at court two over Sara Svetac and Lily Taylor, 6-2. She then followed this up with a ranked singles victory at court two against No. 49 Emilija Tverijonaite, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, to make it 3-2 overall in the match. This was Dmitrichenko's first top-50 win of her career.

In Sunday's match against No. 30 Arizona, the Lady Raider began the contest leading the No. 65-ranked duo of Midori Castillo-Meza and Martyna Ostrzygalo, 5-3, before it went unfinished. Dmitrichenko then clinched the match in singles win yet another ranked win, this time against No. 123-ranked Castillo-Meza, 7-5, 6-1, giving the Lady Raiders their fourth conference championship.

Dmitrichenko leads the team with 22 overall singles wins and a 17-1 dual singles record. She is a perfect 8-0 at court two and is on an eight-match win streak in singles. Going 4-0 over ranked singles opponents, Dmitrichenko also holds a 10-2 dual doubles record, all coming at court two.

Tech is currently on an eight-match win streak and is the overall No. 1-seed in the Big 12 Championships beginning on Friday.
