
Tech completes day one of Texas Relays

The Red Raiders will have two days left of competition
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up day one of the 97th annual Texas Relays presented by Truist Thursday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Before the running events in the afternoon, the meet went into a weather delay that lasted 45 minutes.

Shelby Frank started the day for Tech competing in the hammer throw placing second. Frank threw 63.19m (207-3) on her third try for a new school record by three centimeters before finishing with a heave of 63.70m (209-0). The previous record was held by Ozie Okolie back in 2008 at the very same meet.
The men's javelin saw Adam Dubois win the B section with a SB throw of 64.99m (213-2).
Freshman Titus Kimaru opened his season in the 3000m steeplechase taking second with a time of 8:49.80 – just two seconds shy of cracking the Texas Tech top-10.
The men's and women's 10k capped off the night for Tech. Hannah Spears (36:22.34) and Taylor Limbaugh (37:15.52) each set new PB times.
Notables
·     Due to rain, the pole vault competition for Olivia Cade and Kashlee Dickinson was moved to tomorrow (Friday) at 10 a.m.
·     Fanny Arendt debuted her outdoor season in the 800m with a time of 2:06.59 (7th)
