March 24, 2025 | Women's Golf
KENNESAW, Ga. – The Texas Tech women's golf team is in first place at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate, following Monday's first two rounds of action at Pinetree Country Club. The Red Raiders shot a 6-over-par 574 and sit in front of the 11 other teams in action, starting with a three-shot lead over Notre Dame.
Paving the way for the Red Raiders' opening day success were senior Danique Stokmans and sophomore Maja Ambroziak, who sit in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. Stokmans is in second place, and one shot off the overall lead at 2-under-par (140). She shot a pair of 1-under 70's, highlighted by a strong finish in the second round that saw her close with a bogey-free stretch over the last 12 holes that included four birdies. Stokmans is enjoying her best 36-hole start this season, and first stretch of back-to-back under-par rounds this season as well.
Ambroziak is tied for seventh place, following an even-par 71 opening round and a 1-under-par 70 second round. Ambroziak's second round marked her 10th under-par round carded this season but the first since the Red Raiders' first tournament this spring, Feb. 3-4, at the FAU Paradise Invitational. She's also on pace for her first top-10 finish since the Paradise Invitational.
Klara Hurtova, who claimed her first victory last time out, continues to ride the momentum of her win as she sits in 11th place to round out a trio of Red Raiders in the top 20 at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate. She is 2-over-par behind rounds of 74 (+3) and 70 (-1).
The third and final round tees off at 9 a.m. EDT. Texas Tech will be seeking its second straight win at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate, having won the event in 2016 in its last appearance.
