
Pawlak named Big 12 Player of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas – Senior Piotr Pawlak helped the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 2-1 weekend at the Ed Collins Invitational, earning his first career Big 12 Player of the Week award in the process as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
In Tech's first match against No. 66 Old Dominion, Pawlak tied the match up at 3-3 with a win at court one over Cosme Rolland De Ravel in comeback fashion, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. The following day, No. 80-ranked Pawlak and Sebastian Abboud clinched the doubles point against UC San Diego with a 6-3 win at court one over Pelayo Rodriguez and Zach Pellouchoud, helping Tech defeat the Tritons by a 4-1 score.
On the final day at San Diego State, Pawlak and Abboud once again clinched the doubles point after defeating Alexander Mandma and Mathieu Josserand, 6-2, at the top court. Pawlak forced a third set in his singles match before it went unfinished after the Red Raiders won at SDSU, 4-2. Pawlak leads the team with a 10-2 dual doubles record, all at court one.
The Red Raiders open conference play this Thursday against Utah at 5 p.m. in the McLeod Tennis Center.
