LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's tennis team has inked Bautista Leguizamon as announced on Wednesday by head coach Michael Breler.
Â
"We're thrilled to have Bautista join our team this January," Breler said. "We've had some great players from Argentina come through our program and Bautista will be no exception. He is coming to us highly recommended and embodies many of the traits that we look for in future Red Raiders."
Â
The Rio Cuarto, Argentina native holds a career-high ITA men's ranking of No. 969 and an ITA junior ranking of No. 150. During his junior career, Leguizamon won the J200 Salta tournament in 2024 and the J30 Tucumán in 2023. In Tucumán, Leguizamon recorded five wins, highlighted by victories over Geronimo Gonzalez (ITF 563) and Facundo Grasso (ITF 983).
Â
In May 2024, he was a singles semifinalist at the J100 Cochabamba tournament, then followed with a quarterfinal appearance at the J60 Tarija tournament. A few months later, Leguizamon made it to the finals of the J60 Villa Maria competition where he picked up impressive wins over Faustino Boffelli (ITF 443), Tomas Re (ITF 292) and Juan Ignacio Gallego (ITF 136).
Â
He won his second juniors singles title at the J200 Salta after recording five big wins over the ranked junior players of Nicolas Baena (ITF 93), Victor Cunha Winheski de Lima (ITF 52), Pedro Henrique Chabalgoity (ITF 70), Iker Ibarrondo Suarez (ITF 186) and Joao Pedro Didoni Bonini (ITF 18).
Â
Leguizamon won six titles during his juniors doubles career, with his latest trophy coming at the J300 Sallnas in January 2025. He also added titles at the J100 La Paz, J60 Itajal, J100 Salvador, J30 Lambare and J30 Christiansted. On the men's ITF side, Leguizamon advanced out of the singles qualifying draw of the Lujan 15k and the Santiago 15k.
Â
"He is coming off a strong last twelve months competing in junior and pro tournaments and is on a great trajectory with his game. We believe he will make an immediate impact on our hard-working team and we can't wait to work with him when he arrives in a couple of months. The Red Raiders got better today," Breler added.
