In two races this year, Kiprono has finished in the top-7
IRVING, Texas – Freshman Edwin Kiprono was named the Big 12 Conference Men's cross country Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
In only his second meet of the season, Kiprono turned in an 8k time of 23:30.70 for the first-place individual finish – second place came in at 24:15.20. The finish not only gives Kiprono his first meet win of his career, but now gives him a pair of top-7 finishes this season. The time gave Kiprono the fourth-best course time at Harry McAdams Park.Â
Last week, Ernest Cheruiyot claimed the league's weekly honor, now giving Tech back-to-back awards on the men's side for the first time since October of 2016.
