
Tech Celebrates 29 Student-Athletes Earning Degrees

Dakota Allen and Jah’Shawn Johnson will be among Texas Tech’s graduates this weekend
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Athletics is pleased to announce that 29 student-athletes will earn their degrees this weekend during the university's commencement ceremonies held at United Supermarkets Arena.
Each of the 29 student-athletes graduating this weekend will walk the stage wearing a special stole that signifies the individual's status as a student-athlete. The stoles are part of a recently-established athletics tradition that began with the spring of 2017 commencement exercises.
Texas Tech's commencement exercises begin at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon with the College of Arts & Sciences and continues later that evening with the Graduate School. The 9 a.m. ceremony Saturday features the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration, College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resourses, University Programs, Wind Energy and the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts.
The final ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, featuring the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering, Honors College, College of Education, College of Architecture, College of Human Sciences and the College of Media & Communication.
Edward E. Whitacre Jr., a 1964 graduate of Texas Tech and former chairman and CEO of both AT&T and General Motors, will serve as speaker for each of the commencement ceremonies.
