LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech volleyball (14-15, 3-12) dropped a tightly contested bout to Iowa State (17-9, 10-5) on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the United Supermarkets Arena.
The Cyclones won both of the first two sets by a score of 26-24, after staving off set point in each frame. After halftime, the Red Raiders picked up a 25-22 set three victory, but would fall in the final set, 25-20.

The 2015 senior class wrapped up their final home match in a Red Raider uniform with a special performance. Meghan Stacy led the team in kills behind a career-high 20, putting together a clip of .613. Her hitting percentage was just shy of her career-best of .625 set in 2013.
Jenna Allen put up her third-straight double-digit kill performance behind 17 strikes. It's the most she's had in a match since she opened Big 12 play with 18 against Oklahoma. Freshman Sarah Redding also put up 10 kills, marking the third time this season the Red Raiders have had three with double-digit kills, the last also coming against Iowa State earlier this season.
Senior Brianna Grant led the Red Raiders at the net with four blocks to go along with her five kills. Junior Lauren Douglass (two solo) and freshman Sarah Redding each had three as well.
"Our four seniors all made huge contributions and Meghan really made some effective and crucial swings tonight," Flora said. "It was nice to see Marguerite [Grubb] and Meghan connect and make some big plays."
Junior Marguerite Grubb notched her eighth double-double of the season after dishing up 52 assists and 12 digs. Her marks tie the same line she put up against George Washington on Sept. 12. It's also the third time this season she's recorded 52 assists in a single match.

The Red Raiders opened the match with three of the first four points thanks to two kills from Stacy. Tech would hold onto a 4-2 lead before Iowa State pulled even. The two sides battled back-and-forth to the middle of the frame, trading the lead, until the Cyclones pulled ahead, 16-14. After tying the first set up at 16, the Red Raiders built up a 23-21 lead before a flurry of timeouts from both sides sent Tech to set point at 24-22. However, the Cyclones were able to rattle off four-straight to claim the set from the Red Raiders, 26-24.
The first set was tied 15 times, with the lead changing hands on five separate occasions.
Allen led in kills after one with four, with Stacy following closely behind with three. Grubb assisted on 10 of Tech's 11 kills in the first set. On the other side of the ball, the Red Raiders put up 19 digs, with Foust registering seven. Redding was stout at the net with three blocks, while Grant and Douglass each had two.
Iowa State opened the second frame with a 4-0 run, but the Red Raiders quickly answered with a run of their own to knot it up at four. Tech used kills from Douglass and Stacy to build an 8-6 advantage, signaling the first timeout of the frame for the Cyclones. After the short break, Iowa State built a 12-9 lead, but the Red Raiders climbed back to tie it at 12. The middle of second set mirror the first, with both teams keeping things even through 16.
Tech broke through to hold a 21-19 lead through Iowa State's second timeout, but the Cyclones answered quickly to tie it again at 21. The Red Raiders fought their way to another set point, but were unable to stop the Iowa State comeback, as the Cyclones would steal set two by the same score, 26-24.
Set two featured 16 tied scores and eight lead changes.
Allen followed her first set performance with four more kills in the second frame, giving her eight at the half. Stacy also struck up four kills, with the two helping Tech to 15 kills. Just like in the first, Grubb assisted on all but one of Tech's kills in the second, with 14. Foust also mirrored her first set performance with seven more digs for a first half total of 14 as well.
The Red Raiders started the third set strong with a 6-1 lead, with kills from Stacy, Grant and Redding, mixed in with a service ace from Reyn Akiu. Tech continued their advantage to a 9-2 lead, before Iowa State answered with four-straight points to cut it to 9-6. The Red Raiders were able to keep a cushion after a string of kills from Grubb, Stacy and Allen, giving them a 15-10 lead. Tech kept that five-point advantage at 17-12, until a 3-0 run by the Cyclones sent the Red Raiders into their first timeout of the frame. Douglass stopped the 5-0 run by Iowa State after the timeout with a kill to take back the lead at 18-17. Tech fought to keep a two-point advantage late in the frame with leads of 21-19 and 23-21, and would keep that momentum to drive home the third set, 25-22.
Stacy had the hot hand in the third, firing off eight of Tech's 21 kills. As a unit, the Red Raiders put up a hitting percentage of .391. Grubb added 17 assists in the third, while Foust brought her overall total of digs to 20. The score was tied three times in the third set, but the lead never changed from the hands of the Red Raiders.
Tech opened the fourth frame similar to the third, grabbing a 6-3 lead; however, the Cyclones responded to tie the frame at seven. The two teams once again traded the lead through 11, until Iowa State started to pull ahead with a 16-13 advantage. The Red Raiders battled to pull within two multiple times, but faced a 23-20 deficit coming out of their final timeout. The Cyclones would close out the set and the match, 25-20.
"These women continue to battle and we are so proud of them," Flora said.
The Red Raiders close out the season with a trip to Lawrence to face No. 10 Kansas on Saturday, Nov. 28, at noon on ESPN3.
